I am an Italian-British tutor, qualified medical doctor, researcher and academic with a highly multidisciplinary background spanning medicine, biomedical science, physics, chemistry and mathematics. I hold a medical degree, a Master's degree in Physics, and a PhD in Nanophysics. I am currently working in academia and research, where my work lies at the intersection of medicine, chemistry, physics and mathematics. Although I am currently pursuing an academic and research career rather than working in clinical medicine, my medical training provides me with a strong foundation in human biology, anatomy, physiology, pathology and biomedical sciences, while my background in physics and nanophysics gives me an equally strong grounding in the physical sciences. This combination allows me to approach scientific subjects from multiple perspectives and to make connections between disciplines that are often taught separately. I have over 10 years of private tutoring experience, working with students of all ages and levels, from children and GCSE students to A-level students, university students and adult learners. I have taught both sciences and humanities, adapting my teaching to each student's individual needs whether they are looking to build confidence, prepare for examinations, overcome difficulties with a particular subject, or achieve the highest possible grades. I also have substantial university-level teaching experience as part of my academic career. I have been supervising Masters and PhD students and I am a member of the Higher Education Academy and have taught a wide range of university subjects, from condensed matter physics to practical and nuclear physics laboratories. This experience has strengthened my ability to explain complex concepts clearly, break challenging problems into manageable steps, and help students develop genuine conceptual understanding rather than relying on rote memorisation. My research career has also involved contributing to the academic peer-review process. I have served as a reviewer for prestigious international scientific journals, including Nature, giving me first-hand experience of the standards expected in high-level academic research, scientific reasoning and academic writing. My academic background also extends well beyond the sciences. I completed a grammar-school education with five years of Latin and Ancient Greek, alongside extensive study of history and philosophy. I have continued to study and teach these subjects and have written for specialised academic journals in philosophy of science, an interdisciplinary field requiring a strong understanding of both scientific and humanities-based thinking. I can therefore offer tutoring across a particularly broad range of subjects, including physics, mathematics, chemistry, biology, biomedical sciences, medicine, Latin, Ancient Greek, history and philosophy, from school level through to university and adult education. My approach to tutoring is based on understanding rather than rote learning. I aim to help students develop the ability to reason through problems independently, understand the underlying principles, and approach challenging material with confidence. Whether a student needs to strengthen their foundations, prepare for an important examination, or pursue advanced academic study, I tailor my teaching to their level, goals and learning style.
